Renting Near AIIMS Patna: Rooms and Flats for Doctors, Students and Families

Areas within easy reach

Phulwari Sharif itself is the closest, with lanes of rooms and small flats a short walk or auto ride from the hospital gates. Khagaul and the stretch towards Danapur and Saguna More are a little further but have more newer buildings. Anisabad and the southern end of Bailey Road connect towards the city centre.

For night shifts, being able to walk or take a short auto ride matters more than anything else. Time the trip at the hour you will actually make it.

Room, shared room or flat?

Not sure which? Our guide to room, 1 BHK, 2 BHK or shared room walks through it.

• Shared room: the lowest cost, good for students and interns who are rarely home. Ask how many people share and how the bathroom is shared.
• Single room or 2-room set: privacy for one person or a couple, often with a small kitchen space.
• 1 or 2 BHK flat: for a family, or two or three colleagues sharing the rent.

For patients' families

If you are in Patna for a relative's treatment, tell the owner how long you expect to stay. Many prefer longer stays, so ask clearly whether a month or two is acceptable, what the notice period is, and whether the deposit is refunded on leaving. Keep a copy of the hospital papers handy: some owners ask for them, and police verification needs ID for everyone who stays.

What to check before you take it

Our full checklist before renting in Patna covers the rest, and the renting guide lists the documents you will need.

• Water through the day, and whether there is an overhead tank.
• Power backup: shifts don't wait for the electricity to come back.
• A safe, lit route to the hospital at night.
• Whether cooking is allowed, and whether there is a gas connection.
• Mobile signal inside the room, for on-call phones.
